27 Umbrella Tactics

Have I got a funny one for you!

     One morning, Porcelain set out to hike across town. She had a doctor's appointment, and was going to stop by the store on the way home. She was dressed appropriately with her umbrella, glasses, and bag. Out the door she went! She was on the bus in no time at all and on her way to run those errands.

     It was a little windy by the time she had gotten her coffee at the local cafe, which she frequented more often than the Starbucks, because of the wonderful atmosphere. Porcelain loved the place because of it's coziness and small-town feel. Back on the bus she went to her appointment. 

     Walking up the smaller hill to her doctor's office from the bus stop, she finally noticed the wind when her umbrella just about turned inside out! Luckily it was a golf umbrella, and it held its ground long enough for her to get inside, early for her appointment. A couple hours later, Porcelain had finished with her checkup and was walking back down the small hill toward the bus stop. It was particularly hot that day, so she had foregone her hoodie that day, opting for just the umbrella to cover her head.

     All of the sudden, the wind had kicked back up and the umbrella began to shake with intensity! She held tight to it, hoping it would not shred or turn inside out, and cursed out loud for not bringing her scarf with her! She was almost to the bus stop, all the while fighting the coming-and-going assault of the wind on her umbrella! 

     The umbrella didn't turn inside out, or shred. Instead it nearly picked Porcelain up with it in the air! For the first time in her life, she knew what it was like to feel like Mary Poppins!! A shriek escaped her lips and she was able to bring the umbrella back down, almost falling over in the process. She ran up to the covered bus stop and placed a hand over her chest, relieved to be out of the crossfire!

     Back on the bus she went, but instead of going to the store, she went home to adjust her wardrobe more appropriately to the weather before heading back out to the store! From that day on, learning umbrella tactics in this city was going to be a priority!
