The Porcelain Vampire

Oh, you thought that was the biggest thing that happened in Kindergarten? Clearly you have not lived in the South.      Harmony insisted on wearing her pentagram to school. The other kids were allowed to crosses; why couldn’t she wear her necklace? It was hard to explain to a five-year-old why she couldn’t wear her symbol of belief to school. After finding out she was going to sneak it in to school anyways, Porcelain finally let her. Some kids needed to learn the hard way.      As a compromise, Harmony would have ‘circle time’ with her friends in a nice shaded area on the playground, so she could go outside with her classmates. She assured her mother that she hadn’t mentioned anything Pagan, as she was warned not to. Instead they would just chat, sharing stories and giggles about their pets.      Her friends still had their circle time after Harmony had worn her pentagram, but their circle became smaller, as she was misunderstood. Ah, full circle.      Kindergarten had come around, and Harmony was enrolled. Porcelain was ready for the fight which was bound to happen, because as usual, the school didn’t understand their ailment. Just as predicted there were plenty of comments such as, “Aw, she doesn’t like the sun?”      Luckily, Harmony was born in the 2000s and doctors were more likely to believe their patients when hearing their concerns. Harmony’s doctor was one Porcelain had visited since before her daughter was born. He was fully aware of their situation and made sure to speak to the school, providing them with doctor’s notes and information. Remember those psychic abilities?      Harmony was incredibly intelligent. She was often the first to finish her work, and would then find ways to busy herself by drawing and coloring at her desk.
