24 Finding Home

It was the Spring of 2009.

It was a particularly hot season. Porcelain and her daughter, Harmony, were about to embark on their biggest adventure ever. It felt like flinging one's self halfway across the world, even if it was only the other side of the country. There would be less sun, less heat, and a better life for her and her daughter.

The trip would prove to be uncomfortable, as they decided to travel in the middle of summer, it being the only time available for them. Traveling through the plains was the worst! It was hot and muggy, and then their bus broke down! Everyone had gone outside where the wind was blowing to cool down and wait for another bus to arrive. Not including Porcelain and Harmony because of the sunny day.

Then through the mountains they went, enjoying the higher altitude and cooler weather. Still a bit sunny but the rainy weather was so nice! Onward into the deep canyons of Utah, entering Salt Lake City. A wide-eyed, 8 year old Harmony exclaimed that it was the BIGGEST city she had ever seen! During the whole trip Porcelain had explained the history of the land, what natural formations meant, and everything in between.

They finally arrived at their destination on the West coast. Northern California was gorgeous (places changed for privacy of course!). The temperatures were moderate, the weather was nice, and the pollution was nearly non-existent. The schools had been foretold to be amazing, and it was quite true! The people were understanding of their condition, and the religious diversity almost brought a tear to Porcelain's eyes, she was so happy.

They had finally found Home.
