Authentic Italian Pasta Recipe

Authentic Italian Pasta (my family recipe)

I make this recipe quite a bit! Hope you're hungry! (Note: we don't use oregano, it bothers my stomach)

You will need a fairly large pasta pot, a large sauce pot, large bowl and a frying pan for this recipe.

1. Ingredients:
5 Large tomatoes, crushed.
1 can or large tube tomato paste.
1/2 cup basil dried or 1 medium bowl fresh basil leaves, shredded
1 Whole garlic bulb, crushed or 4 tablespoons course garlic powder.
2 cups sliced black olives (or any other olive you prefer)
2 Large green peppers.
1 Whole red onion, chopped.
1/4 Cup olive oil.
4 Cups water (for sauce)
2 Lbs ground beef.
5 Lbs Semolina pasta.
1 Entire stick of butter (2 cups)
5 Tablespoons Salt to cook with.

1. In the sauce pot: (which you will start 4 hours before cooking the pasta)
- A light layer of olive oil (not the whole 1/4 cup yet).
- Saute chopped onions, basil leaves (if using fresh) and garlic in the pot in order to bring out their flavors.
- After satisfied with enough time sauteing these, add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, green peppers, olives and all the spices, along with the water and olive oil into the pot.
- Cook for 4 hours on low.

2. The Beef:
- In a 160F (71C) frying pan, place the ground beef (at this time if you want to put the same spices in your beef as the pasta you can, but I never do)
- Cook until done.

3. The Pasta.
- Place enough water to cover pasta and 5 tablespoons of salt (1 tablespoon of salt = 1 lb of pasta) into a pasta pot.
- Let water come to a boil.
- Place all the pasta in your large pasta pot.
- Cook it the recommended time. (usually around 15-20 minutes, depends on how al dente you want it)
- When finished, strain and place in a large bowl. Add all the butter to it. Mix and let it sit for 5 minutes. (Butter is a nice addition because it makes the pasta creamier. It's that little secret we don't tell you about!)

4. Finally! It's dinner time!
- You can do this 2 ways. Either put the sauce and beef in the same bowl and the pasta in different bowl, or place it all in the same giant bowl. (both work great!)

Congratulations! You have just made authentic Italian pasta!
